Offers New Year's Eve in Paris (from 29 Dec to 2 Jan): from Milan € 183 | from Rome € 208
This year's calendar winks at those who want to take a few days out of town to celebrate New Year, while not being able to take too many holidays from work: if you don't want to give up a truly suggestive setting where to toast to the new year, the sublime Paris it will be your ideal destination.
In addition to the usual charm that the Ville Lumiere always carries with it, during the Christmas period it becomes even more intriguing thanks to the beautiful lights that adorn it here and there.
If you have already seen Paris at Christmas you can only agree that it is one of the cities to visit sooner or later in life in this period, while if you have not yet seen it from this point of view ... seize the ball and organize your New Year 2020 in Paris, where there are tons of interesting things to do.
Let's start by saying that the official fireworks displays lately they are not the strong point of the Parisian New Year: for some years now, in fact, the fireworks are no longer organized, and any launches of fires depend on private initiatives. But, surprise! This year there is an exception, as we will reveal to you in the next paragraph. 🙂
Where to spend the eve
New Year's Eve in the Champs-Elysées
For those wishing to wait for the New Year in the square, the advice is to "jump into the fray" that crowds the area of Champs Elysées: here, starting at 21 pm, the positivity and joy that every end-beginning of the year brings with it is experienced at the center of the Parisian scene.
People come together for stroll, exchange New Year's greetings, toast (attention, however, alcohol is not allowed) e wait for the spectacular play of light that floods the Eiffel Tower at the stroke of midnight.
Here, in fact, is the highlight of the New Year's Eve in Paris, the light show that lights up the famous open tower… definitely not to be missed!
Another place to wait for the arrival of the new year is theArch of Triumph, where an event not to be missed will be held.
The City of Paris has organized an unforgettable evening around the famous monument, with games of lights and video projections visible from the Champs-Elysées and Place de l'Etoile.
The event is free and should take place between 23pm and 1am. To celebrate the arrival of 2020 there will be a small fireworks display ✨ for the midnight cowntdown, the only exception to the ban on lighting fireworks during the holiday period.
It is good to remember that public transport such as buses, trams and metro will be enhanced and free to allow tourists and Parisians to better enjoy the longest night of the year.
New Year's Eve in Montmartre
If we consider the superb view you can get of the city teeming with partying people from Montmartre hill, the dilemma (certainly not easy to solve) arises about where to spend New Year's Eve in Paris.
Who prefers a more relaxed atmosphere, may well consider this place to celebrate the New Year; it is definitely less crowded than the Champs Elysées, but no less impressive.
To tip the balance for this solution there is also the proximity to the premises of Pigalle, where to organize a toast break; nearby you will also find the Moulin Rouge which, for the night of December 31, provides an exciting evening, with dinner and show: a must not to be missed, even for those who do not adore burlesque.
New Year's Eve on the premises
Are inclement temperatures not for you? Join the large group of those who prefer to wait for the fateful 24 hours in one of the many clubs and clubs in Paris: from 22 pm on December 31st, an exciting evening of music (house, Rnb, pop and techno) will be held at the Palais de Tokyo and at the Haussmann Club in the presence of about 1000 people; if you prefer a more intimate atmosphere, there is no shortage of very romantic solutions that include some cruises on the Seine, with a gala dinner, music and entertainment to wait in a very sentimental way for the arrival of the new year.
In general, however, the evening of December 31 coincides with the traditional New Year's Eve dinner. If you are in Paris, you will also have the considerable advantage of being able to taste the legendary French cuisine.
If you prefer an all-inclusive solution, I recommend this nice package that includes a tour of the lights with a stop at the Eiffel Tower, a 3-course dinner including champagne, to be chosen between a restaurant or on a boat and the traditional midnight toast.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to do it on your own, among the places that you can consider, Epicure (1st arrondissement) is one of the best ever that will make the evening truly unforgettable, with its traditional local dishes; if the price of the New Year's Eve dinner menu in a high-level restaurant (such as Epicure) were a little too high for your budget, focus on brasseries where there is no lack of quality and courtesy of the staff, but also excellent dishes . One of the most popular is Brasserie Flo, in the XNUMXth arrondissement.
New Year's Eve in Disneyland
If you are traveling with children, have no doubts about where to make them happy. The best place to take them is without a doubt Disneyland Paris: immersed in a fairytale setting, there are many initiatives that will allow you to experience a special New Year, suitable for children.
However you have been waiting for the New Year, from January 1st to February 1st it is the custom of the French to continue to exchange greetings; therefore do not forget to wish Happy New Year and, among the specialties of the moment, certainly buy the papillottes, chocolates that, as a sign of good wishes, when you take them out of the box they make a noise similar to fireworks.
