The restaurant is the third seafood concept from Chef Michael Serpa and his team at Serpa Hospitality. It is an ode to the seaside clam shacks and raw Bars of the New England coast, set in a charming Newbury Street brownstone. It is conveniently located close to the Prudential Center, Fenway Park, the Hynes Convention Center, major hotels and all that Back Bay has to offer.
The restaurant has a 15-minute grace period for reservations. If you are running later than 15 minutes after your reservation time, they will do their best to hold your table but cannot guarantee it. They have a 24-hour cancellation policy, and a $50 per person fee will be assessed for late cancellations or no-shows. If your plans change, group size changes or you need to cancel your reservation, you can call them after 12:30pm and let them know.
The restaurant adds a 20% Pre-Tax Gratuity to all checks. This is designed to ensure that the front of house service staff can focus on delivering great hospitality to guests and not focus on how much they will be making in gratuity. The staff members have family, children, mortgages and other financial obligations and the restaurant believes they should be able to rely on a steady income. This included gratuity is noted on both their menus and their printed receipts. If any guests strongly oppose the 20% gratuity, they can ask to speak with management and it will be kindly removed from the check.
Guests have highly recommended the selection of oysters, the beer battered hake sandwich, the halibut curry, clam chowder, tuna tartar appetizers, and the hot butter lobster roll. The haddock dish has also been praised as the best some guests have ever had.
The ambiance of the restaurant is described as warm and inviting. The atmosphere is particularly cool downstairs by the bar and kitchen. It is a lovely and adorable oyster bar that guests have stumbled upon and enjoyed.
