Pierre, a Swiss-American reporter-photographer and sailor, is the person behind the idea of bringing this French restaurant to Boston. He is also the owner of a superb sailing yacht moored directly across from the restaurant. Over time, he became a regular customer and a good friend, and eventually, the plan to open a restaurant in Boston was hatched.
The decor of this restaurant is truly unique and authentic. Everything was brought over from France, including the zinc bar, tables and chairs, wooden wine fridge (an old Butcher’s fridge), the marble console, vintage chandeliers, sailing pictures, and even the entrance door. The walls are adorned with a private collection of Pierre's work, featuring pictures of famous personalities like Dali, Steve McQueen, Catherine Deneuve, and Hubert Beuve-Méry.
The cuisine is authentic French, with some “Méridional” dishes like the “Soupe de Poisson” (Fish Soup) or the Loup de Mer (Seabass) imported fresh from the Mediterranean. The Chef, Raphael, prepares all the 'incontournables' of French regions such as Rillettes du Mans, Escargots de Bourgogne, Magret de Canard, and more. This might inspire you to discover the French country, well known for its perfect balance of enjoying time, food, and art of any kind.
The restaurant has a warm nautical ambiance that complements its French cuisine. It is a charming brasserie that serves classic French fare, including a nightly fixed-price menu. The staff is amazing and the wine list is thoughtful, well-considered, and accessible.
Some of the recommended dishes at this restaurant include the Caramelized French Onion Soup Gratinée. Other highlights include the saffron mussels dish and the blueberry duck dish. The restaurant also offers delicious wine and cocktails.
